A real life story written by a begger from Taiwan

An UntoldCityLife.com’s Book review by Xiao Loong Zi

While I am on leave or away from the office, I usually go to do some readings in bookstore. After collecting the legal documents from my solicitor in KL today, I dropped by Suria KLCC and visited Kinokuniya. One of the most amazing things that I did today - I bought a Mandarin book! Ever since when I started buying Mandarin books after my high school? I don’t really like to read Mandarin books because most of it are very thick-in-size and written in the vertical format. I am used to the horizontal format reading like the English books. However this time, it’s out of my norm that I paid my true respect to Author Lai Dong Jin for his book “A Boy of Begger Gang” <<Qigaijianjai>> (translated from Mandarin). While reading some part of the book, my eyes were red with tears and I nearly cried inside the bookshop due to such truly touching realistic story in human life. As a matter of fact, when this book was launched in Taiwan, it made more than 10,000 people cried. Today, more than 800,000 copies were sold and even the President Cheng Shui Bian read about it!
